Today Friday the weather is awful, it has been raining since 11.45 this morning, non stop,just like monsoon climate.I called to see my mother today ,we went shopping, she was in good form.Paul called in today . Unas grandmother died yesterday she was 92 yrs old she spent the last few years in a nursing home r.i.p.Eugene called for dinner. I was going to go out tonight ,however, the weather has put a stop to that. We have the central heating on, you would never think that it was the 4 th of July, Independance day in America. Their have been more job losses forecast today . Pfizers announced that they will be winding down the company between now and the end of 2009. tThe job losses will be around 500 all in cork city. Very bad news.Also a lot of jobs gone in construction.

Today is the last day of June. The weather was dry today but overcast. It looks like the summer is passing us by again. I do feel sorry for the school children on holidays at the moment. It would be nice if we got some sunshine. We had a quiet day today no visitors. I went for a long walk today, it's good to get out when it's dry. Robert was playing golf.

Nigels Birthday

It was Nigels birthday on the 26th of june, he was 28 years young.Happy birthday Nigel. He spent it in Portugal as he was there for a conference with his company (Cadburys). Next year if they make the targets they will be going to Monte Carlo. Isn't that a great incentive. Carol is glad to have him home.

We went for dinner in the barn restaurant on the night, then we had the family around on saturday the 10 of may. We also had a night at the dogs and dinner on saturday the 24 of May . A great night was had by all.

Today the weather is a lot better than yesterday. The sun is shining. Yesterday was a wash out it rained very heavy all day , with flooding in some areas. The christening went well, a pity about the rain. Taking it easy today.I tried putting my photographs on to the computer, I couldn't do it. I guess I will have to wait for Eugene.

Today is the 21/06/08. However when i look out the window you would think it was the middle of winter. The sky is grey and the rain is pouring down . I wish I was back in lanzarote . Today lilyana is being christened. Her name will be Lilyana Roberta Peglar. I will post some pictures when I get them. I still have to find out how to put them on to my computer, thats where Eugene comes in. I thought I might go for a walk But that has been put on hold for now.If this weather keeps up for long our summer will be gone just like all the other summers of late.Today is the longest day of the year.

Lanzarote

We got back from Lanzarote last night. We had a lovely week at the Riu Parasio all inclusive. We have put up some weight from all that lovely food. The weather was very hot and also windy which is typical for this island. The staff at this hotel were fantastic, and the food was also excellent. The menu was very varied and there was something to suit everybody. Still I am glad to be home safe. When we were away our grand daughter Lilyana spent a couple of days in hospital, thank God it was nothing serious and she is now well again. Adam our three and a half year old grandson was in hospital on friday last to have grommets inserted into his inner ear , this is to help prevent him having ear infections. He is very well now. All the family called today because today is fathers day.I don't have any photographs yet as soon as I have I will post them. While I was on holiday I read James Pattersons new book , it's called Sail, it's a very good read, a page turner like most of his books. I read it in two days.

Today is Nigel and Carols 2nd Wedding Anniversary. Congratulations !!!!!! . Well today is very humid and overcast again in Cork City. The 26 mile marathon is on today . The winner of the marathon wss Roy Fahy (East Cork AC) time 2.33.55. Congratulations. .Robert is out in the garden tipping around. Went to Viviennes house at 5 o clock for a barbeque. Rob was our cook. Very nice food. Thanks guys.Weather was glorious.

These are our good friends Shelia on the left and Tom on the right. We have been friends now for over 30 years. On this occasion we had a great holiday in Lanzarote.

This was taken on the uninhabited island of los Lobos. It is one of the canary islands. Don't ever go there. We went on a tour here and we were left to our own devices on the island . It is very black as it is volcanic. A great place if you like surfing, otherwise stay at home. No toilets or shops here. If you want to eat in the restaurant, and yes it does look like that, you have to book two weeks prior to your visit. They make paella on the main land and bring it here for the days menu. I saw them bringing the very large saucepan back on the boat.

This was taken on the 16/06/06in Puerto Rico commercial centre. Some lovely restaurants here best one is Miguels always a queue so be prepared. Excellent food.We stayed in The Punta Real Apartments . Very good location , however very basic. Having said that I would go back there again. Not for the feeble as a lot of steps to contend with to reach the beach.

last night we had a great night at the dog track. we had a lovely dinner with great food and good service.i won 3 euro in total. robert won 35 euro on one race but soon lost it all. paul was the only one that didn't win, well better luck next time paul. today robert bought a new golf driver it is called a cobra. he cant wait to try it out on tuesday.my grandson craig wasn't feeling the best last night a bit of a tummy bug. he had a fall from a go cart on friday evening. badly grazed elbows sounds painful oh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! . i expect he will be as good as new sooner rather than later , then he will be back in the go cart again.i rang to see how he was feeling , he was sick again last night.

I went shopping today at 12 midday and i didn't get home until 4 in the afternoon. it was a nice day today in cork, only a little bit overcast. i managed to buy some nice clothes after a lot of trying things on. we are going to dinner tomorrow night with all the family ,this is to celebrate my husband roberts birthday which was on may the eight. we are going to the dog track, who knows we might win something while we are having our meal.

its my birthday today.the weather in cork has been dreadful today. rain, rain, and more rain.i did go out for dinner earlier and i did enjoy a nice steak at the brook inn in glanmire in co cork. my children all four of them called in to see me today and also yesterday , as did my five grandchildren . they range in years 3 weeks to 12 years.
